Large ceramic floor tiles (around 10x10x1/4) make great tabletop palettes for oils and acrylics. The glazed surface on the tiles provides a smooth working area, and can be cleaned with ease—even if the paint has hardened (a single-edge razor blade usually does the trick in this case). And here’s an added bonus: Each tile will fit easily into a 1-1/2-gallon-sized storage bag for temporary, airtight storage. Inexpensive and readily available at home building centers or carpet and tile dealers, ceramic floor tiles can often be purchased at a discount price if you look for closeouts or discontinued stock.
